Romeo y Julieta Celebrates the 151st Kentucky Derby with “Run For The Roses” 2025 Cigar
As the Kentucky Derby gallops into its 151st year, Romeo y Julieta is once again embracing the occasion with a cigar crafted specifically for the race dubbed “the most exciting two minutes in sports.” In official partnership with Churchill Downs, Altadis U.S.A. has unveiled the 2025 Limited Edition “Run For The Roses”, marking the second consecutive Derby-themed release under the legendary Romeo y Julieta brand.
This year’s edition features a single vitola, a 6 x 50 Toro, composed entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco, yet handcrafted at the renowned Tabacalera de Garcia factory in the Dominican Republic. While last year’s Derby cigar stood on its own, this 2025 version is a completely different blend, distinguished not only by its construction but also by its impressive age—rolled five years ago and aged to perfection.
Presented in elegant packaging, cigar lovers can choose between a 20-count box or a commemorative single cigar case. Each cigar is adorned with “151” on the box—a clear nod to the 151st running of the Derby—and will retail for $20 USD(before taxes).
The Run For The Roses cigar will make its public debut at the PCA Trade Show this weekend, with shipments to retailers starting April 12. For those attending the Derby in person, the cigars will also be available for purchase on-site at Churchill Downs during Derby week and on race day itself. With only 1,350 boxes being produced, this limited run is expected to be as exclusive as the VIP boxes at the racetrack.
For enthusiasts planning to attend the festivities, note that smoking is permitted in most outdoor areas at Churchill Downs—making it the perfect occasion to enjoy this special edition smoke while taking in the spectacle of American horse racing’s most iconic event.
Whether you’re trackside in Louisville or watching from afar, the Romeo y Julieta Run For The Roses 2025 offers a refined, celebratory cigar experience worthy of the Kentucky Derby tradition.
