Mississippi State Launches Signature Cigar Line Honouring Baseball Legend Ron Polk
Mississippi State University teams up with Bocock Brothers to release a premium cigar line paying tribute to legendary baseball coach Ron Polk—debuting at Super Bulldog Weekend this May.
Cigars and sport are rekindling their age-old bond, and Mississippi State University is stepping up to the plate with a new, officially licensed cigar line celebrating its rich baseball heritage. In partnership with Bocock Brothers, the university is set to debut the Ron Polk Signature Series—a tribute to the iconic head coach widely revered as the “Father of SEC Baseball.”
Coach Ron Polk’s legacy is nothing short of historic. Over 29 seasons at Mississippi State, he notched eight College World Series appearances across three programmes (six of them with MSU), earned multiple National Coach of the Year titles, and secured his place in the College Baseball Hall of Fame. Now, his name graces a line of cigars that blends sport, sophistication and Southern tradition.
The Ron Polk Signature Series will be offered in two sizes: Robusto (5 x 50) and Toro (6 x 52). Produced at Fabrica San Judas Danlí in Honduras, the blend features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over Honduran and Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Each box—finished in MSU-inspired pinstripes—holds 20 cigars and includes a digital signature from Coach Polk, plus a unique baseball holder inside the box.
Bocock Brothers, known for pioneering university-affiliated cigars, previously collaborated with LSU and continues to lead the charge in collegiate-themed cigar culture. Despite tobacco resistance on many campuses, the trend is growing.
The launch is slated for Saturday, 3 May, during Mississippi State’s Super Bulldog Weekend—a spring celebration filled with baseball, the school’s football spring game, and the much-loved Starkville Derby, dubbed the largest wiener dog race in the U.S. Coach Polk himself will be present, signing boxes at the event.
To support the release, Bocock Brothers has partnered with Spring Street Cigars, which will retail the cigars during launch weekend at their Starkville shop and other Mississippi locations. After the event, cigars will be sold via Bocock Brothers’ website and through their retail partners in alumni-rich regions such as Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.
The Robusto is priced at $325 per box ($16.25 per cigar), with the Toro slightly higher at $335 per box ($16.75 each). Looking ahead, Bocock Brothers has plans to expand the university series with cigar lines for the University of Florida, Wake Forest, Missouri, and Louisiana at Lafayette.
Whether you’re a Bulldog supporter, a cigar enthusiast, or a fan of collegiate sports culture, this release merges tradition and craftsmanship in a way that’s as memorable as Coach Polk’s career.
