Saint Luis Rey Adamastor Launches in Portugal as Exclusive Edición Regional
Cigar lovers in Portugal have a reason to celebrate with the arrival of the Saint Luis Rey Adamastor, the latest Edición Regional release from Habanos S.A., now officially on sale. This cigar joins a distinguished list of regional exclusives tailored for the Portuguese market, released under the auspices of EMPOR S.A., the country’s official Habanos distributor.
The Adamastor comes in the Laguito Especial vitola—a slender lancero format measuring 192mm (7 9/16 inches) by a 40 ring gauge. This elegant size is shared by classics such as the Trinidad Fundadores and the recently released Diplomáticos Grandes ER Alemania. EMPOR describes the blend as full-bodied, promising a robust and flavour-rich smoking experience.
Production is capped at 10,000 individually numbered boxes, each containing 10 cigars. Priced at €250 per box (€25 per cigar), the Adamastor is positioned as a premium, limited-edition offering for discerning smokers and collectors alike.
The name “Adamastor” pays homage to a mythical figure in Luís de Camões’ 16th-century Portuguese epic Os Lusíadas. A personification of the tempestuous seas, Adamastor symbolises the challenges faced by Portugal’s legendary explorers. EMPOR connects this icon to the untameable character of the cigar itself—rich in heritage and power.
Each box includes a custom-commissioned painting inspired by the Adamastor legend. Buyers will find a printed insertand a QR code linking to a short video where the anonymous artist explains the story behind the artwork.
In addition to the Adamastor release, EMPOR has launched an exclusive collector’s project titled Habanos Vintage – The EMPOR Collection. This high-end wooden humidor contains one box each of the last four Portuguese Edición Regional releases—long sold out individually and now revived for collectors through this curated aged selection:
