VCF Acquires Les Fines Lames in Full: A Strategic Move into Cigar Accessories
Vandermarliere Cigar Family (VCF), owner of Oliva and J. Cortès, has completed its acquisition of Les Fines Lames, the French company known for its high-end cigar knives and accessories.
In a strategic expansion move, the Vandermarliere Cigar Family has officially acquired all remaining shares of Les Fines Lames, the premium French accessory brand celebrated for its cigar knives and distinctive design ethos. This follows VCF’s initial minority investment in 2023 and now positions the Belgian cigar conglomerate as the sole owner.
The acquisition was first reported by Cigars-Connect, with both Oliva and Les Fines Lames confirming the deal earlier this month. In a statement, Les Fines Lames called the acquisition “an exciting new chapter” that would allow the brand to grow with “numerous synergies” while mitigating the risks that often accompany rapid expansion. VCF echoed this sentiment, highlighting their commitment to supporting Les Fines Lames’ ambitions while preserving its unique identity.
Founded by Pierre Jourdan in 2014, Les Fines Lames quickly rose to prominence through crowdfunding campaigns for its now-iconic cigar knives. The company’s signature products—the full-size knife and the compact Le Petit—have since become cult favourites among cigar enthusiasts. Its portfolio has expanded to include ashtrays, lighters, travel cases, punch cutters, and even wearable cigar tools, establishing the brand as a key player in the luxury cigar accessory market.
Even before the acquisition, VCF and its subsidiaries were responsible for the global sales and distribution of Les Fines Lames products. With the acquisition now complete, integration is expected to streamline operations and strengthen both companies’ presence in the premium cigar lifestyle segment.
This marks another strategic step for VCF, reinforcing its ambition to be not only a global cigar powerhouse but also a dominant force in cigar lifestyle and accessories.
