Selected Tobacco introduces The Nelson, a limited-edition cigar line crafted by Nelson Alfonso and his sons. Aged for four years and presented with a custom ashtray, this release celebrates heritage and meticulous artistry.
Under the guidance of renowned cigar visionary Nelson Alfonso, Selected Tobacco has launched its most exclusive release to date: The Nelson. This highly anticipated, limited-edition cigar line pays tribute to the enduring legacy of the Alfonso family while showcasing the brand’s dedication to premium craftsmanship and meticulous post-roll aging.
Available solely in a 6 × 54 vitola, The Nelson comes in commemorative sets featuring five cigars, each aged for an impressive four years. Encased in cosmetic-grade aluminium tubes to protect their pristine condition, the cigars are accompanied by a uniquely designed ashtray created by Alfonso himself—a personal touch that enhances the collector’s appeal.
Crafted in collaboration with his sons, Alfonso describes The Nelson as a celebration of both tradition and innovation. “This is our line that we are releasing, created and blended with my sons,” he shared, emphasising the familial connection behind the blend.
The cigar boasts an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and a refined mix of Dominican and Peruvian long fillers. Each cigar is matured in specially engineered cedar-lined rooms, utilising five different cedar species to impart layers of flavour complexity and character. Rolled in Costa Rica and aged in Spain, The Nelson reflects a cross-continental production process emblematic of Selected Tobacco’s premium ethos.
Debuting at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) show in New Orleans, these commemorative sets carry an MSRP of $160 and are now shipping to authorised retailers. With its intricate blend, extensive aging, and homage to family tradition, The Nelson stands as a defining milestone in Selected Tobacco’s storied portfolio.
