Eladio Diaz Launches La Diana: A Powerful Tribute to His Mentor

June 23, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

Legendary blender Eladio Diaz unveils his second core line, La Diana, a full-bodied cigar inspired by the Dominican factory where his journey began.

Respected cigarmaker Eladio Diaz will debut his second core line in early July 2025. Named La Diana, the new release pays homage to the man and the modest factory where Diaz’s cigar-making career began more than five decades ago.

Diaz is a revered name in the industry, known for his tenure as master blender at Davidoff of Geneva, where he crafted numerous acclaimed blends. After departing Davidoff in 2021, Diaz founded Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera in the Dominican Republic and focused on contract work and limited runs. His 2024 debut line, Before & After, marked his shift toward branded cigars bearing his name.

La Diana takes its name from the small Dominican factory where a seven-year-old Eladio Diaz first learned the craft under the guidance of Francisco “Panchito” Biloria Vencosme. The cigar is not only a nod to that humble origin, but also one of Diaz’s boldest blends to date.

The blend features an Ecuador Habano 2000 wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder, and a filler mix heavy on Dominican tobaccos—including Corojo, Criollo ’98, and Negrito—alongside Peruvian Pelo de Oro for added depth. Diaz describes it as full-bodied, crafted to deliver both power and complexity.

Three vitolas will be available:

  • Brevas(4 1/2 x 46) – $7.50
  • Biloria(5 x 52) – $11
  • Vencosme(6 x 54 Toro) – $12.50

Each size comes in boxes of 20, all rolled at Diaz’s own Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera. With this release, Diaz further cements his legacy—not just as a master of blends, but as a storyteller in smoke, honouring the figures who shaped him.
