Dominique London and Tang Tobacco Join Forces in Landmark Global Cigar Deal

August 1, 2025 Usman Dawood 4 min read

The largest luxury cigar retailer in Europe has announced a strategic partnership with Asia’s dominant distributor Tang Tobacco.

In what may be the most significant shift in cigar retail history, Dominique London and Tang Tobacco have entered a strategic partnership that quietly reshapes the global landscape. By linking Europe’s fastest growing cigar group with the exclusive distributor for Habanos in Asia Pacific and Japan, the agreement places both companies at the heart of an evolving luxury market that spans continents.

Together, they operate over 70 high end locations in major cities across Europe and Asia. The move signals more than expansion. It signals consolidation. And with that comes new potential to shape the future direction of the industry from the ground up.

Two Worlds, One Vision

Dominique London gains immediate access to Asia’s booming markets through Tang Tobacco’s long-established presence across the region. For over three decades, the Pacific Cigar Company and Cigar Club in Japan have introduced connoisseurs to limited edition releases, rare accessories, and refined lounges that define modern cigar culture in the East.

Tang Tobacco, in turn, gains a partner known for reinventing the retail experience across Europe. Since its formation in 2021, Dominique London has grown through a string of acquisitions and ventures across the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and beyond. Its vision includes not only cigars but a broader world of hospitality, spirits, digital media, and lifestyle integration.

Dominique London founder Dominique Gyselinck said, “The luxury retail sector has been missing the Hermès of cigar retail. With Tang Tobacco’s deep-rooted infrastructure and our shared obsession with elegance, heritage and service, we’re here to create something the cigar world has never seen.”

Tang Tobacco Chairman and Pacific Cigar Director Lawrence Lau echoed the sentiment, calling the partnership “a natural marriage that blends time-honoured tradition with forward-thinking vision.”

What This Means for the Industry

This agreement may quietly mark the start of a new chapter in cigar retail. Traditionally, manufacturers have held the reins when it comes to shaping product, pricing, and distribution. What we are seeing here is a different kind of influence. With a combined presence that touches everything from private lounges to luxury accessories to editorial content, this newly unified group has the scale to move markets.

It is not about control. It is about reach. The ability to connect with cigar smokers across Europe and Asia, in stores, in lounges, in hotel rooms and online reviews, offers something few other groups can match. And while manufacturers will always be the source of product, the conversation around cigars is now being steered from more than one direction.

Legacy and Expansion

Founded by Sir David Tang, Tang Tobacco has spent decades curating a trusted retail network from Hong Kong to Australia. Through the Pacific Cigar Company and Cigar Club in Japan, the group has brought iconic releases like the Ramon Allones Silver Jubilee and the Por Larrañaga Lotus to life, along with a line of Siglo accessories crafted from kevlar, titanium, and other exotic materials.

Dominique London, formed from the merger of La Casa del Tabaco and C.Gars Ltd, has taken a fast and bold approach to growth. In the last year, it has launched a private cigar club inside Monaco’s famous casino, acquired a whisky distillery and boutique hotel in Scotland, and expanded into Germany. The purchase of cigar media outlet Cigar Inspector marked its first step into editorial ownership.

Together, these two names now form a global platform that stretches across luxury, heritage, and hospitality. From carbon fibre cutters in Tokyo to tasting rooms in London and digital reviews read in more than 180 countries, the combined vision is clear.
