Lure Cigars Launches “The Bluefish” to Honour Police Veteran and Support ALS Research
A heartfelt release from Lure Cigars celebrates a local hero’s 31-year law enforcement career while raising funds to fight ALS.
Honouring Service and Fighting Disease
Lure Cigars has announced a new limited-edition cigar, The Bluefish, created to celebrate Lieutenant Chris Watson’s 31 years of service with the Dothan Police Department. The release also aims to raise money and awareness in the battle against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a disease Lt. Watson was recently diagnosed with.
The project began when Stephen Frank, friend of Watson and retail partner of Lure Cigars, approached Lou Cross with the idea. Watson had been a loyal supporter of the brand for years. Frank suggested a commemorative cigar release to mark the occasion of Watson’s retirement and diagnosis. The entire production run will be sold to raise funds, with 100% of proceeds going to the ALS Association’s Alabama Chapter. The funds will support research and therapies working toward a cure.

The Bluefish is a medium-full strength cigar wrapped in a dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The binder is from Estelí, Nicaragua, and the fillers combine Estelí, Jalapa, and Mexican San Andrés ligero. Smokers can expect a bold flavour profile with rich espresso, tanned leather, warm baking spices, and a black pepper kick on the retrohale. The smoke output is generous, and the flavours are intense yet balanced.
