Montecristo Celebrates 90th Anniversary With New Cigars and Collectors’ Items
Altadis U.S.A. is celebrating Montecristo’s 90th anniversary with a limited-edition release. Starting 15 September, cigar enthusiasts across the United States can enjoy the Montecristo 90th Anniversary, along with exclusive humidors, luxury watches, and more.
Limited Retail Launch Expands Nationally
Some Casa de Montecristo shops offered an early release of the Montecristo 90th. Now, the cigar will arrive nationwide, giving smokers the chance to mark nine decades of the legendary brand.
The Montecristo 90th Anniversary is crafted by Plasencia Cigars in Nicaragua. It’s a small-production cigar that reflects Montecristo’s long history and Altadis U.S.A.’s dedication to premium releases.
Cigar Sizes and Pricing
The 90th Anniversary comes in two formats:
No. 2 Torpedo – 6 1/8 x 52, retailing for $40 each.
Nacional – 5 1/2 x 56, priced at $38.75 each.
Both versions are packaged in ornate 12-count boxes, designed to enhance the anniversary’s celebratory feel.
Aged Nicaraguan Tobacco Blend
According to Rafael Nodal, vice president of product capability for Tabacalera USA, the blend uses tobaccos from the Plasencia family’s private reserves. It’s an all-Nicaraguan cigar featuring leaf from Estelí, Condega, Ometepe, and Jalapa. The wrapper is grown in Jalapa, rounding out a profile built on aged and carefully selected tobacco.
Collectors’ Humidor and Luxury Watch
In addition to the cigars, Altadis U.S.A. is releasing a commemorative humidor. This premium piece includes:
A BRM Chronographes watch, handmade in Paris with a bronze case and skeletal dial.
A watch winder.
Playing cards, poker chips, dice, and “The Last Chip” game card.
Only 35 humidors have been produced, each capable of holding 18 cigars. The retail price is $15,000, and distribution begins next week alongside the cigars.
