J.C. Newman Releases Angel Cuesta Shade Nationwide
J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has begun shipping its new Angel Cuesta Shade to 112 retailers across 46 states. This marks the first cabinet release of the historic brand’s shade-wrapped edition.
A Historic Legacy
The Angel Cuesta brand dates back more than a century. Named after Angel LaMadrid Cuesta, co-founder of Cuesta-Rey, it became the official cigar of King Alfonso XIII of Spain.
J.C. Newman revived the brand with the Angel Cuesta Rosado in 2023, and now introduces the Shade version as its companion line.
Blend and Craftsmanship
The Angel Cuesta Shade is handmade in The American Room at J.C. Newman’s iconic El Reloj factory in Tampa, Florida.
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Shade
Binder & Fillers: Aged tobaccos from three continents
Cap: Traditional pigtail
Each cigar is crafted by pairs of experienced rollers. Only 150 cigars are made per day, ensuring limited production.

The Angel Cuesta Shade will be released in cabinets of 20 cigars across three vitolas:
Doble Robusto (5.5 x 56) – $20
Toro (6.25 x 52) – $21

Now, with its national release, the Angel Cuesta Shade offers enthusiasts across the U.S. a chance to enjoy a cigar steeped in history and crafted with meticulous care.
