Chazz Palminteri’s ‘A Bronx Tale’ Sonny Begins Shipping to Retailers
Cigars and gangster films often share a sense of style and confidence. Actor and filmmaker Chazz Palminteriunderstands this connection better than most. Known for writing and starring in A Bronx Tale, Palminteri launched his cigar brand of the same name in 2023. Now, he introduces a new limited-edition cigar named after his film’s unforgettable mob boss, Sonny.
The ‘A Bronx Tale’ Sonny by Epic Cigars began shipping to retailers last week, after originally being slated for a spring release. The cigar pays homage to the film’s sharp-tongued and commanding character, blending cinematic flair with premium tobacco craftsmanship.
A Bold Tribute to a Legendary Character
The Sonny comes in a box-pressed toro size, measuring 6 1/2 inches by 54 ring gauge. This full-bodied cigar features a dark Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, paired with a Dominican binder and a combination of Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers. Priced at $25 each, Sonny offers a richer, more robust experience than its predecessor, Calogero, named after the film’s young protagonist.
The Story Behind ‘A Bronx Tale’ Cigars
Palminteri’s first release, Calogero, debuted as a limited edition before evolving into a regular production line. Now, Sonny follows suit, with plans to expand into a full range in the near future.
The project is a collaboration between Dean Parsons of Epic Cigars and Paul DiSilvio of La Casa Grande Cigars, a small cigar-rolling operation in the Bronx, New York—just a short distance from where the film’s story was set. Production takes place in the Dominican Republic at the Charles Fairmorn factory, with the initial Sonny release limited to 1,000 boxes of 12 cigars.
‘A Bronx Tale’ Sonny captures the gritty sophistication of Palminteri’s film, blending Hollywood nostalgia with Dominican craftsmanship for a smoke worthy of the big screen.
