New Diplomaticos Cancilleres to Launch in Bulgaria This November

Habanos S.A. will debut the new Diplomaticos Cancilleres in Sofia, Bulgaria, on November 27—marking the first regular-production addition to the Diplomaticos range in decades.

Diplomaticos Returns with a New Release

Cuban cigar lovers have something new to look forward to this autumn. Habanos S.A. has confirmed the release of the Diplomaticos Cancilleres, set to launch on November 27, 2025, in Sofia, Bulgaria. The event will be hosted by Kaliman Karibe, Cuba’s official distributor for Bulgaria.

This launch represents a major milestone for the Diplomaticos brand, which has remained largely dormant in terms of regular-production cigars for many years. While the brand has occasionally appeared in Regional Edition projects, such as the Diplomaticos Genios released earlier this year through Phoenicia Trading, the Cancilleres signals a fresh chapter for the line.

A Classic Brand Reimagined

First introduced in 1966, Diplomaticos was conceived as a more affordable companion to Montecristo, sharing similar vitolas and naming conventions (Nos. 1–5). Despite its strong start, the brand never matched Montecristo’s legendary status, and over time, its range was reduced to a single production cigar—the No. 2 pirámide.

Now, with the introduction of the Cancilleres, Diplomaticos is expanding once again. Measuring 5 inches by 52 ring gauge, the cigar will come in boxes of 25 and features a distinctive pigtail cap—a design detail not previously used in the line.

A Promising New Chapter

The name Cancilleres, meaning “chancellors” in Spanish, reflects the dignified, refined image associated with the brand. Pricing details have yet to be announced, but it’s expected to be modestly priced compared to other Cuban lines.

As one of the smallest yet most enduring names in the Habanos portfolio, Diplomaticos continues to attract aficionados seeking vintage Cuban craftsmanship with modern appeal. The release of the Cancilleres offers hope for a revival of the brand’s identity, blending nostalgia with renewed energy.
