A Bold New Chapter for BLK WKS
Black Works Studio (BLK WKS) has announced the launch of The Five Temples – Seven Star Fist of Shaolin, a new limited-edition collection handcrafted at Fabrica Oveja Negra in Estelí, Nicaragua. The collection will begin shipping to select retailers next week.
A Vision Years in the Making
Offered first as a pre-order to retailers at PCA 2025 in New Orleans, The Five Temples represents the realisation of a long-time vision by James Brown, creator of Black Label Trading Co. and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra.
“This collection is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” Brown said. “I’ve been rolling various blends in this pyramid size for the last 12 years for myself. It’s finally time to do a production release.”
Brown describes the project as inspired by the atmosphere of old-school Kung Fu cinema. The pyramid-shaped cigars pay homage to the form of Shaolin temples, while the blends and wrappers offer a diverse showcase of the factory’s creative depth.
The Collection: Strength, Symbolism, and Style
The Five Temples is a 24-count mixed collection box, featuring four cigars of each core blend, plus two additional Shaolin vitolas:

Each cigar showcases a blend of Nicaraguan fillers bound by a Honduras Habano binder, delivering a rich, complex flavour experience across multiple wrapper styles. The collection’s MSRP is $13.00 per cigar, with 24-count mix boxes available through Oveja Negra Brands.

Brown emphasises that The Five Temples is more than a collection—it’s an expression of artistry and precision. “These cigars are an expression of art showcasing the talent, technique and tobacco of our boutique cigar factory,” he said.
