Meerapfel Ernest Lancero Nears Global Release
A year after its discreet debut, Meerapfel Cigar has announced the upcoming worldwide release of the Ernest Lancero, the latest addition to its prestigious portfolio. The cigar—first showcased in 2024 during an exclusive event at Tobacconist of Greenwich in Connecticut—will begin shipping to select retailers in the coming weeks.
A Tribute to Heritage and Innovation
The Ernest line pays homage to Ernest Meerapfel, great-grandfather of the current generation leading the Meerapfel family business. In the late 19th century, Ernest Meerapfel left his home in Untergrombach, Germany, to explore new tobacco-growing regions. His legacy now lives on through one of the most respected family names in the premium tobacco world.
Today, the Meerapfel family operates extensive Cameroon tobacco cultivation and distribution operations while producing their own ultra-premium cigar lines under the Meerapfel Cigar label.
The Cigar: Precision and Performance
The Ernest Lancero measures 7½ x 40 and features a Cameroon wrapper, chosen for its complex, aromatic character. While the remainder of the blend and factory details remain undisclosed, the company emphasises that every aspect of the cigar’s design has been “over-engineered” for performance.
“We over-engineer every technical detail of Meerapfel Cigar, making them uniquely different,” said Jeremiah Meerapfel. “The technical performance of the tobacco is reflected in the essential oils and combustion. This remains consistent with what defines Meerapfel Cigar notoriety.”
Each cigar is priced at $73 MSRP and comes in 25-count Paulownia wood boxes. Production is strictly limited to 613 boxes per year, underscoring the cigar’s rarity and collector appeal.
