VegaFina Launches Year of the Horse 2026 with Dominican Tribute

VegaFina introduces its Year of the Horse 2026 limited edition—a 6×56 with a pigtail cap, Ecuadorian wrapper and Dominican-Nicaraguan blend, crafted to honour the Paso Higüeyano horse.

VegaFina Salutes the Horse and the Paso Higüeyano

In November, VegaFina will launch its Year of the Horse 2026 limited edition cigar. The edition honours the native Dominican breed, the Paso Higüeyano, renowned for its grace and rhythm. The 6×56 vitola carries the name Higüeyanos, and features a distinctive elongated pigtail, designed to mimic a horse’s tail.

The cigar’s blend uses an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers drawn from both the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. As with most VegaFinas, this creation is crafted at Tabacalera de García in the Dominican Republic.

Limited Production and Launch Markets

Production is limited to 4,300 boxes of 16 cigars each. In Germany, where pricing is regulated, each cigar will retail at €13.80 (approximately US $15.95). The Year of the Horse 2026 will make its debut in China via distributor CT‑INC/Time Cigar before rolling out to other international markets.

Packaging embraces the auspicious colours of red and gold associated with the Lunar New Year. The 16-count boxes are arranged in two rows of eight cigars—eight being a lucky number in Chinese culture.

Linking to the Broader Zodiac Story

This VegaFina release isn’t an isolated event. A growing number of brands have announced “Year of the Horse” themed releases ahead of the Chinese New Year (17 February 2026).
