Duran Cigars Returns to the U.S. with New Headquarters and a New Generation
Duran Cigars returns to the U.S. with a new Miami headquarters and a strengthened family team. The brand begins a new era built on global success and Cuban heritage.
Duran Cigars Begins a New Chapter in the United States
Duran Cigars has announced its long-awaited return to the U.S. market after years of success in Europe and Asia. The family-owned brand enters a new era under the leadership of founder Roberto Pelayo Duran and his son, Roberto Pelayo Duran Jr. Their renewed focus brings fresh energy, deeper resources, and a clear plan to reconnect with American retailers and enthusiasts.
Global Growth Shaped the Comeback
The company launched in 2013 at the IPCPR Trade Show in Las Vegas. Its debut reflected Cuban tradition and modern craftsmanship. Strong early reception in the United States helped establish the brand. Soon after, Roberto shifted the company’s strategy toward global expansion.
He developed a 100-hectare farm in Quevedo, Ecuador, expanded the Estelí factory, and built a strong presence across Europe and Asia. These investments ensured long-term control over quality and consistency. The focus abroad also laid the foundation for a strong return to the U.S. market this year.
A Family Enterprise Strengthened
Roberto Pelayo Duran describes the timing as ideal. He credits years of infrastructure building and his son’s arrival as key reasons for the renewed push into the United States. Roberto Jr. joins as Marketing and Sales Manager. His academic background includes degrees from the University of British Columbia and the University of Notre Dame. His hands-on work in Estelí and Quevedo deepened his understanding of every part of the craft.
A New Home in Miami
The company’s U.S. comeback centres around a new headquarters in Little Havana, at 3141 SW 8th Street. The site functions as a distribution centre, retail shop, and cigar lounge. It gives Duran Cigars a permanent base in Miami’s historic cigar community. The space links the company’s global operations with a city steeped in tobacco culture.
A Vision for the Future
Roberto Jr. highlights the value of working side by side with his father. He sees the company’s vertically integrated structure as a major advantage. With farming, production, and distribution aligned, Duran Cigars can offer a consistent product and a compelling story. The Miami headquarters marks the beginning of a confident new phase for the brand.
The Duran Legacy
Roberto’s journey began in Havana. Tobacco captured his imagination early and shaped his career. He oversaw cigar production in Cuba before moving into international distribution with The Pacific Cigar Company Ltd., managing Cuban cigar brands across Asia and Canada. His later work with British American Tobacco expanded his reach to the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
A Portfolio Rooted in Craft
Duran Cigars now represents several lines: Roberto Duran, Azan, Neya, Baracoa, and Nicatabaco. Each brand reflects Cuban heritage, careful blending, and the precision that defines the Duran family. The company stands ready to reintroduce these cigars to the U.S. market through its renewed presence in Miami.
