A Parisian Collaboration in Luxury Craft
Elie Bleu and Au Départ, two historic Parisian houses, have joined forces to create a limited edition trio of luxury pieces. The collaboration includes a humidor, a watch winder cabinet and a jewellery trunk. Each item blends Elie Bleu’s renowned craftsmanship with Au Départ’s distinctive geometric branding.
Heritage Meets Contemporary Design
Au Départ, founded in 1834, built its reputation on bespoke trunks. The brand closed in 1976 before being revived in 2011 by the Arnault family. Today, it offers leather goods, luggage and cigar accessories. Elie Bleu, known worldwide for its marquetry and artisanal wooden creations, brings its precision craftsmanship to this partnership.
The Limited Edition Humidor
The Au Départ x Elie Bleu Humidor is based on Elie Bleu’s 75-count model. It measures 11.81 x 9.65 x 4.53 inches. The exterior features sycamore marquetry with a classic Au Départ motif. Inside, the humidor includes unique tray cut-outs not found in standard models. Even the humidifier carries customised branding.
The humidor is priced at €7,280.95 ($8,456) and offers a refined balance of artistry and functionality.
The Six-Watch Winder Cabinet
The largest item in the collection is the Au Départ x Elie Bleu 6 Watch Winder. This model measures 12.2 x 19.69 x 8.66 inches. Its six glass portholes display each watch clearly. Opening the cabinet reveals the winding mechanism and six control knobs. The winders complete 900 clockwise and 900 counterclockwise rotations per day.
The cabinet features sycamore marquetry with Au Départ’s branding and sells for €20,917.95 ($24,294).
The Jewellery Trunk
Rounding out the trio is the Jewellery Trunk. It shares the same dimensions as the humidor and is crafted from the same sycamore wood. It includes several removable trays lined with Alcantara. While it can store watches, it does not include a watch-specific tray.
The trunk retails for €9,361.95 ($10,872).
Exclusivity and Availability
Each piece in the collection is limited to 34 units. The items are available through Au Départ, though independent retailers can place orders via the brand. The collection is already on sale.
