CAO Flathead Introduces Speed Shop Habano for a Smoother Profile

January 8, 2026 Inspector X 2 min read

General Cigar Co. is expanding the CAO Flathead line with Speed Shop Habano, a new blend designed to ease off the throttle. The cigar targets smokers who enjoy Flathead’s style but prefer a more restrained, everyday profile. Shipments are scheduled to reach retailers by 2 February.

CAO Flathead Speed Shop

A New Direction for the Flathead Line

Flathead has built its reputation on bold character and visual flair. Speed Shop Habano explores a different lane. The blend dials back strength while preserving the brand’s automotive identity. Cory Beardsley described the release as performance with purpose. The cigar keeps Flathead’s attitude but delivers a smoother ride. The aim is balance rather than brute force. This approach broadens Flathead’s appeal. It invites smokers who want nuance without abandoning the line’s design language.

Blend and Construction

Speed Shop Habano is produced in Nicaragua at STG Estelí. The blend uses an Ecuador Habano wrapper. A Mexican San Andrés binder adds structure. Fillers come from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.

CAO categorises the cigar as medium bodied. The components suggest measured strength with layered flavour. The wrapper choice reinforces that intent.

Construction follows Flathead tradition. Each cigar is box pressed. The shape enhances mouthfeel and burn consistency.

Sizes and Pricing

CAO is releasing Speed Shop Habano in three vitolas. Each size carries the Flathead aesthetic while offering a distinct smoking time.

Vitolas

  • V660: 6 x 60 – $9.99

  • Big Block: 7 x 70 – $10.99

  • Crankshaft: 6 x 54 – $8.99

Crankshaft marks an entirely new vitola for the Flathead range. The size fills a gap between existing formats and targets regular rotation.

All cigars ship in 24-count boxes. Packaging features the brand’s engine-block design, which has become a Flathead signature.

Designed for Daily Driving

Speed Shop Habano reflects a shift in emphasis. The cigar prioritises approachability without sacrificing identity. It suits smokers who appreciate Flathead’s visuals and heritage but want a milder experience.

The blend also complements the existing portfolio. Rather than replacing stronger Flathead releases, Speed Shop Habano adds contrast.

By offering a subtler option, CAO reinforces Flathead’s versatility. The line now speaks to both power seekers and those who value smooth control.
