Kingmakers Launches Playboy Toro Cigar Collaboration
Kingmakers has unveiled a new Playboy-branded cigar, marking the return of the iconic lifestyle brand to the premium cigar space. The Playboy Toro becomes the first release in Kingmakers’ newly announced Playboy Cigar Collection.
Playboy Returns to the Cigar World
Playboy has a long, if intermittent, history with cigars. In the 1990s, the brand appeared as Playboy by Don Diego. Later, Altadis U.S.A. released a standalone Playboy-branded cigar.
Now, Kingmakers brings the Playboy name back again. This time, the focus sits firmly on modern premium positioning. The new release aims to balance heritage with contemporary appeal.
Blend and Format Details
The new Playboy Toro measures 6 x 54. It features an Ecuadorian habano criollo wrapper. A Nicaraguan binder supports the blend. Nicaraguan fillers complete the core. Production takes place in Estelí, Nicaragua. Kingmakers has not disclosed the factory name. That decision follows a growing industry trend.
The cigar carries an MSRP of $12 per stick. It comes packaged in boxes of 10 cigars. Sales have already begun online. Brick-and-mortar retailers will follow shortly.
Positioning and Brand Intent
Kingmakers frames the release as more than a licensing exercise. The company wants to reconnect Playboy with indulgence and style. At the same time, it targets today’s premium cigar consumer.
According to Claudio Torres, the goal was clear from the start. Playboy represented a cultural moment defined by confidence and excess. The cigar needed to respect that history without feeling dated. The resulting product leans on classic dimensions. The blend choice suggests broad appeal rather than extremity. This approach aligns with mainstream premium retail.
Part of a Wider Licensed Portfolio
The Playboy Toro joins a growing stable of licensed cigars at Kingmakers. The company already works with the country band Midland. It also holds partnerships with basketball stars Carmelo Anthony and Kelsey Plum.
These collaborations form a clear strategy. Kingmakers focuses on recognisable names with crossover appeal. The Playboy brand fits that model naturally.
