Crux Ships Reblended Passport Line to Retailers

January 29, 2026 Inspector X 2 min read

Crux Cigars has begun shipping a reblended version of one of its earliest releases. The updated Passport line revisits a core concept with a revised blend and familiar production roots.

Crux Passport reblended cigar

A New Blend for a Familiar Name

Crux Cigars has refreshed the Passport line with an all-new blend. The cigar now features an Ecuadorian habano wrapper. A Nicaraguan binder supports fillers grown in Nicaragua and Honduras.

The original Passport debuted in 2014, the same year Crux launched. That blend used Nicaraguan wrapper and binder tobacco from Jalapa. Fillers came from Estelí and Honduras’ Jamastran Valley.

The new version keeps the Passport identity intact while shifting its tobacco sourcing. The company aims to deliver a smoother and more refined profile.

Production Remains Unchanged

Despite the new blend, Crux kept production consistent. The reblended Passport comes from Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Estelí.

That continuity matters to longtime fans. Plasencia handled the original Passport as well. Crux maintains a long-standing relationship with the factory.

Tobacco Origins Explained

The new wrapper comes from Ecuador. Ecuadorian habano wrappers often offer balance and consistency.

The binder comes from Nicaragua. Nicaraguan tobacco anchors the blend with structure and strength.

Fillers include tobaccos grown in Nicaragua and Honduras. This combination replaces the earlier Jalapa-forward profile with a broader regional mix.

Crux is releasing the Passport in three Super Selection sizes. Each vitola ships in 20-count boxes.

Founder’s Perspective

Jeff Haugen described Passport as a personal favourite. He said the blend suits moments when he wants something smooth and effortless.

That comment aligns with the line’s original positioning. Passport has always aimed for approachability without sacrificing flavour.
