Trinidad Corcel Year of the Horse Cigar Premieres in Hong Kong
Habanos S.A. has unveiled the limited Trinidad Corcel to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. The exclusive Cuban release debuted in Hong Kong and will reach global markets later this year.
Hong Kong Premiere Marks Year of the Horse Release
Habanos S.A. selected the Trinidad brand for its latest zodiac cigar. The company introduced the Trinidad Corcel during a launch event in Hong Kong. Pacific Cigar Co. Ltd. partnered in the regional premiere. Collectors and distributors attended the unveiling.
The release honours the Chinese Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse. Habanos continues its annual zodiac tradition. Each edition highlights cultural symbolism and luxury presentation. The Trinidad Corcel follows that established pattern.
Size, Packaging and Production Numbers
Vitola and Presentation
Cuban factories refer to this vitola as “Patricios.” The cigar measures 5 3/8 inches with a 55 ring gauge. Decorative 18-count boxes feature Lunar New Year themes. Each box includes integrated NFC technology. The feature provides product details and authenticity verification.
Habanos has limited production to 8,888 boxes. The number eight symbolises luck and prosperity in Chinese culture. This deliberate choice enhances collector appeal and cultural relevance.
Pricing Expectations
Retail prices will vary by region. Habanos S.A. has indicated an estimated price of 78 euros per cigar. A full box should retail at just over 1,405 euros. Currency conversions place the single cigar near $84.25. A box approaches $1,516 at current rates.
Cultural Symbolism and Brand Positioning
Launch Event Remarks
Dag Holmboe, CEO of Pacific Cigar, attended the event. He highlighted strength, freedom and endurance as key themes. These qualities align with both the Horse zodiac and Trinidad’s heritage. The speech emphasised craftsmanship and cultural respect.
The Corcel name itself references a spirited horse. The branding therefore reinforces the zodiac symbolism. Habanos blends tradition with modern luxury marketing.
Previous Chinese Zodiac Editions
The Trinidad Corcel represents the seventh zodiac-themed Cuban cigar. Earlier releases include Partagás Cedros, Montecristo Brillantes and Cohiba Siglo de Oro. H. Upmann Magnum 52 also joined the series. Hoyo de Monterrey Primaveras and Romeo y Julieta Maravillas 8 complete the lineup.
Following the Hong Kong debut, distribution will expand globally. Habanos has not confirmed exact regional release dates.
