Alec Bradley Launches Limited Kintsugi Wabi Sabi

July 27, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

Alec Bradley introduces its first collaboration with A.J. Fernandez in the form of Kintsugi Wabi Sabi. This limited-edition cigar offers a fresh twist on the original Kintsugi line, launching this August.

A New Chapter for Alec Bradley

For the first time in its history, Alec Bradley is releasing a cigar made by A.J. Fernandez. The new cigar is called Kintsugi Wabi Sabi, a limited-edition offshoot of the existing Kintsugi line. It represents a blend of tradition, artistry, and a bold step into new territory for the brand.

After Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) acquired Alec Bradley in 2023, several brands were either discontinued or continued under the new ownership. Kintsugi remained in production, and this new version—crafted in Nicaragua by Fernandez—adds a distinctive flavour to the family.

The Blend and Format

What’s Inside

Kintsugi Wabi Sabi comes in a single size: a 6 x 52 Toro, priced at $12.49. The blend features:

  • Ecuadoran Habano wrapper

  • Mexican binder

  • Nicaraguan filler tobaccos

STG categorises the strength as medium to medium-plus, aiming for balance and depth. Only 1,500 boxes are being produced, each containing 16 cigars.

The Meaning Behind the Name

From Cracks to Character

The original Kintsugi line, launched in 2020 by brothers Alec and Bradley Rubin, was inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi—repairing broken pottery with gold, celebrating imperfection. They saw it as a metaphor for a fragmented cigar industry that could be mended into something stronger.

For Wabi Sabi, the message evolves.

“Wabi Sabi isn’t about flaws,” explains Bradley Rubin, STG brand ambassador. “It’s about honouring the character of the materials and the story they tell. We didn’t set out to chase perfection. We set out to create a cigar with soul.”

The result is a smoke that aims to be greater than the sum of its parts.

Availability and Distribution

Kintsugi Wabi Sabi ships to retailers on 4 August. It will be distributed through Forged Cigar Co., a subsidiary of STG. With its limited production and unique collaboration, it’s expected to draw attention from collectors and loyal Alec Bradley fans alike.
