Alejandro Turrent Steps Down as International Sales Head at Grupo Turrent
Grupo Turrent has confirmed that Alejandro Turrent, long-time face of the company and key driver of its international growth, is stepping away from his global sales role—but he’s not leaving the company entirely.
In a notable leadership shift, Grupo Turrent has announced that Alejandro Turrent, its head of international sales and widely recognised public figure, has “concluded his tenure” in that role. Turrent has spent years representing the company around the world, helping solidify the global presence of Mexican cigars through the highly regarded Casa Turrent brand.
According to a company press release, Turrent played a “meaningful role in expanding the company’s global footprint, fostering valuable commercial partnerships, and further cementing the legacy of Mexican cigar craftsmanship on the world stage.”
In the interim, his responsibilities will be taken over by Ricardo Carioni and Gerardo Pérez, who will manage operations across both the U.S. and other international markets. Carioni, who joined the company in November 2024 as head of business development, is expected to bring fresh insight to the role during this transitional period.
Turrent is a fifth-generation member of the storied Turrent tobacco family—Mexico’s most prominent cigar-producing dynasty. In 2015, under his guidance, the company launched Casa Turrent, now one of the most recognisable Mexican cigar brands globally. Alejandro’s efforts turned a local legacy into an internationally respected name.
While the company statement suggests an amicable transition, Turrent said that “there is more news to come.” He clarified that he is not leaving Grupo Turrent entirely, but merely shifting from one division to another—though details of his next role remain under wraps.
This move raises questions about future strategic directions for Grupo Turrent and what Alejandro’s next steps might entail.
