Arturo Fuente Appoints New Distributor in Switzerland After Meerapfel Split

November 6, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

Following its August split from Meerapfel Söhne, Arturo Fuente has appointed Great Opus Legacy Distribution & Co (G.O.L.D. & Co) as its exclusive distributor in Switzerland. The move marks a new chapter for the Dominican brand in the European market.

A New Beginning for Fuente Distribution in Europe

Arturo Fuente’s European distribution network is evolving rapidly after the end of its long-standing relationship with Meerapfel Söhne. The change was first announced on 15 August 2025, when Carlito Fuente confirmed the conclusion of the partnership between the two family-run businesses.

Now, just over two months later, Alexis Aazam Zanganeh has revealed that his newly founded company, Great Opus Legacy Distribution & Co (G.O.L.D. & Co), will take over as the exclusive distributor for Switzerland.

In a LinkedIn post, Zanganeh expressed pride in representing one of the world’s most prestigious cigar brands:

“My new company has been granted the privilege of importing and distributing the premium Arturo Fuente cigar brand exclusively for the Swiss national territory.”

Building a New Supply Network

Before this transition, Fuente cigars in Switzerland were handled by FUME, a subsidiary of Meerapfel Söhne. With the new arrangement, G.O.L.D. & Co is building its team and preparing to deliver directly to Swiss tobacconists by January 2026.

Zanganeh is already well-known in the Swiss cigar scene. He owns La Couronne and the La Casa del Habano franchise in Nyon, as well as co-founding the Calibre Genève cigar brand. He views this new role as both an honour and a responsibility, calling Arturo Fuente “a driving force” in the cigar industry.

Confirmation in Germany

Meanwhile, in Germany, Kopp Tobacco GmbH has been officially confirmed as Fuente’s exclusive distributor. Managing Director Peter Witzke stated that Kopp will continue to distribute Fuente cigars across Germany, now receiving shipments directly from the Fuente factory in the Dominican Republic.

This confirmation strengthens Fuente’s European presence, signalling a shift towards a more decentralised, direct distribution strategy following the Meerapfel era.
