Arturo Fuente Begins Construction on Massive Cigar Factory in Nicaragua
Many people don’t know that before Fuente set foot in the Dominican Republic and became the flagship of the cigar industry in the Dominican, the family had a factory in Nicaragua. But during the civil war, the factory burned down and Fuente was forced to move. It has been a dream of Carlito Fuente to bring the company back to Nicaragua and the dream is almost fulfilled. Construction has begun on a massive Arturo Fuente cigar factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
“This is no small feat—it is huge!” said Fuente Jr. “We’ve been working on drainage, pavers for streets, overall property and foundation for many months now. The buildings are going up quick now.”
Fuente announced the project early 2018, and the factory got the name Gran Fabrica de Tabacos La Bella y La Bestia. Due to covid, things were delayed but less than a year ago, ground was broken and now the construction started. The new factory in Nicaragua does not mean that the operations in the Dominican Republic will end, the new factory will be to keep up with the enormous demand for Fuente cigars worldwide. Fuente expect that the factory will be up and running in the 2nd quarter of 2024.
