Arturo Fuente Hemingway Sungrown Oscuro Now Available at TAA Stores
Arturo Fuente’s latest addition to its Hemingway line, the Hemingway Sungrown Oscuro, was introduced at the 2024 Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA) Meeting & Convention and is now making its way to select TAA stores. Offered in two sizes—Signature (6 x 46, $10.95) and Classic (7 x 46, $11.75)—this exclusive release features a Habano-seed wrapper sourced from Oliva Tobacco Co., likely grown in Ecuador. The original Hemingway blend, crafted by Carlos Fuente Sr., combines a Cameroon wrapper with Dominican tobaccos and also has Maduro and Sungrown variations. The Sungrown Oscuro adds a bold new profile to the Hemingway line-up, bringing added depth to this beloved range.
Unlike traditional TAA exclusives, the Hemingway Sungrown Oscuro is a limited release exclusive to TAA retailers, with all initial stock reportedly sold out. Arturo Fuente plans to collect feedback from this release before deciding on future production runs, which could expand availability to a broader market.
The TAA, which comprises approximately 80 retail members and 40 manufacturers, meets annually to discuss industry challenges, collaborate on high-volume purchasing strategies, and host exclusive events. This year’s convention, held October 20-24 in Aruba, included two main buying sessions. One, known as the Dream Machine, leverages collective purchasing power for discounted rates, while the other is a more traditional trade show format.
Though the Hemingway Sungrown Oscuro wasn’t part of the official TAA Exclusive Series Program (ESP), around a dozen other manufacturers unveiled TAA ESP cigars for 2024. Participating brands, such as CLE, Crowned Heads, and Plasencia, have agreed to donate a portion of sales to the TAA, with contributions rising to $1 per cigar this year.
