Atabey Black Delirios Marks 30 Years of 8 to 8 Cigars

The Khalil family’s 8 to 8 Cigars is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an exclusive release in Selected Tobacco S.A.’s Atabey Black line. The new Atabey Black Delirios offers a luxurious blend, distinctive ageing process, and a collector-grade presentation.

A New Vitola for a Milestone Year

The Atabey Black Delirios is a 5 ¾ x 55 robusto extra. It features an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Dominican binder, with a filler combining Dominican and Peruvian tobaccos. Like other Atabey Black cigars, it undergoes a meticulous five-year ageing process in rooms lined with Spanish cedar and French oak at the Tabacos de Costa Rica S.A. factory. This approach mirrors the techniques used for Alfonso Extra Añejo, Alfonso Gran Selección, and Byron 1850.

Limited and Luxurious Presentation

Each cigar carries an MSRP of $50, with 10-count boxes priced at $500. The boxes, produced in Spain by Golden Age Visual Developers, double as humidors. They include a built-in hygrometer and space for humidification. Only 300 individually numbered humidors are being released.

Launch Event and Background

A special launch event will take place on 30 August at 8 to 8 Cigars. This marks the second vitola in the Atabey Black line, following the Black Ritos, a 6 ⅛ x 55 toro extra introduced in late 2023. That release is shipped to stores only once per year in limited quantities.

The Atabey Black line first appeared in 2021 as an NFT project. Buyers purchased virtual boxes of cigars through OpenSea.io, with proceeds benefiting Cigar Rights of America.

8 to 8 Cigars is part of the Khalil family’s retail network in Illinois, which also includes Casa de Montecristo in Countryside and the Byron Cigar Lounge in Schaumburg. The Villa Park store—home to the Elev8te lounge—now proudly carries the Atabey Black Delirios, with boxes shipping to customers by the end of the month.
