Bentley Tobacco Expands U.S. Presence with Premium Cigars and New Formats
Bentley Tobacco, a historic brand with Swiss roots, is accelerating its expansion in the United States. After a successful PCA trade show debut, the company is bringing a refined selection of cigars and packaging to American smokers.
A Swiss Legacy Finds New Ground in America
Although new to many American cigar enthusiasts, Bentley Tobacco is no stranger to craftsmanship. The brand traces its roots back to 1878, when two brothers in Switzerland founded Bru-Bu Werke AG. Originally producing pipes, walking canes, and ski poles, the company evolved over the years. In the late 1970s, it became Bentley Pipe Co. Then in 2011, Martin Shuster acquired the firm and expanded its offerings to include cigarillos and spirits. By 2017, Bentley had fully entered the premium cigar space.
Now, Bentley Tobacco is making waves in the U.S. market under the leadership of Jonathan Carney, formerly of La Flor Dominicana. Carney now heads Bentley Tobacco U.S.A. as CEO. Importantly, the company has no ties to the British car manufacturer of the same name.
Made in Nicaragua, Offered Nationwide
Bentley’s cigars are crafted at the renowned Joya de Nicaragua factory. The current portfolio includes two lines: Bentley White and Bentley Green. The White is a milder blend, featuring a Connecticut-seed Ecuadorian wrapper. The Green leans bolder, using an Ecuador Habano wrapper branded as “Ecuador Rosado.” Both lines are entirely Nicaraguan beneath the wrapper.
Cigars in the range come in four familiar formats—Corona (5½ x 46, $13), Robusto (5 x 50, $14), Toro (6 x 52, $15), and Churchill (7 x 54, $16). All are packaged in boxes of 20, with uniform pricing between blends.
New Sizes and Packaging to Broaden Appeal
Bentley is extending its U.S. reach with new sizes and packaging options launching next month. Leading the charge is the Bentley Green GT Gran Toro, a hefty 7 x 70 cigar made exclusively for American smokers. Retail price is set at $18.
Also incoming are new five-pack options for three sizes: Toro, Robusto and the Half Corona. The latter, previously only available in Europe, measures 3¾ x 45 and will retail for $11 each or $55 per pack of five. These formats aim to make the Bentley experience more accessible and travel-friendly.
Final Thoughts
Bentley Tobacco is showing a strong commitment to building its U.S. presence with quality cigars, smart packaging, and a respected production partner in Joya de Nicaragua. With premium blends and a rich backstory, the brand is poised to earn its place in humidors across the country.
