Best Cigar Prices Introduces Dakine Cigars, Infused with the Essence of Hawaii
Hawaii has fertile soils of Hawaii and is known for its coffee. And due to some crafty pizza store owner in Ontario, Canada, a lot of people think that there are a lot of pineapples grown in Hawaii, but although there are a few small pineapple farms, the fruit is not native to the islands. We can add one more crop to the list though, that is tobacco and Best Cigar Prices, a Pennsylvania-based retailer, is now launching a series of cigars under the name Dakine, all of which have Hawaiian tobacco in their blends. Where exactly the tobacco is grown on Hawaii is not disclosed.
There are 8 blends, all come in a 5×50 Robusto and a 6×50 Toro.
Dakine The Big Island uses a Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler from Ecuador, Nicaragua and Hawaii.
Dakine Forbidden Isle has a Cameroon wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler from Nicaragua and Hawaii
Dakine Friendly Isle has a shade crown Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler from Hawaii and Nicaragua.
Dakine Garden Isle uses a Mexican San Andres wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and filler from Nicaragua and Hawaii
Dakine Gathering Place has an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler from both Hawaii and Nicaragua
Dakine Lāna’I is green with its Honduran Candela wrapper. The binder and filler are Nicaraguan with some Hawaiian tobacco in the filler as well.
Dakine Target Isle also has an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper as well as an Ecuadorian binder, plus filler from Nicaragua and Hawaii.
Dakine Valley Isle has a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and again, filler from Nicaragua and Hawaii.
The cigars are produced at Tabacalera Nuevo Nica in Estelí, Nicaragua.
“Laura Barlau (Purchasing Director at Best Cigar Prices) and I have been friends for a few years and share an affinity for good cigars and innovation,” said Chris Weber, owner of Tabacalera Nuevo Nica and blender of Dakine. “When she told me she’d always wanted to blend a cigar with Hawaiian tobacco, I told her of some leaves I’d been growing as an experiment at home in Hawai’i. Fast forward to now, and the outcome is nothing short of amazing. Mahalo Nui Loa to Laura, Greg and the BCP team for the confidence in us to bring this project to light for them.”
While Best Cigar Prices is best known as a retailer, it launched Cigar Hub, Inc. in 2021 to focus on B2B sales. These Dakine cigars are offered to other retailers through Cigar Hub.
“We are extremely excited to bring this innovative new series to our customers,” said Greg Fox, president and CEO of Best Cigar Prices, in a press release. “Dakine cigars awaken a dimension of the palate that other cigars simply do not. The authentic Hawaiian tobaccos expertly blended into this premium collection create a truly original smoking experience. These eight blends are among the most unanticipated pleasures of my 20 years in premium cigars.”
