Boisdale Cigar Awards winners

Recently we published an article about the Boisdale Cigar Smoker Award Dinner, and now we have a list of the winners.

For the Davidoff Cigar Terrace or lounge of the year 2018, seven lounges were nominated. The nominees were CASC Bar and Cigar Shop in Aberdeen, Dukes Cognac & Cigar Garden in London, The Arts Club in London, The Churchill at the Hyatt London, The Garden Lounge at the Corinthia London, The Ritz London Cigars and finally the Turmeaus Late Hour Cigar Store & Sampling Room in Liverpool. Roy Sommer from Oettinger Davidoff announced the winner, the Arts Club.

The second award of the night was for the retailer of the year 2018 with 1A St James London, Brucciani Tobacconist from Carlisle, Havana Cigar Exchange London, James J Fox London, Segar & Snuff Parlour London, and The Kensington Cigar Shop. Jemma Freeman from the cigar distributor Hunters & Frankau announced winner J. J. Fox.

The Montegrappa Cigar Writer of the year 2018 had four nominees, Nick Foulkes, Tom Chamberlain, Tobias Gorn and Cosima Von Aichholzer. The winner of this award was Tobias Gorn.

The fourth award was The Glenrothes Cigar of the Year. The nominees were Davidoff Late Hour Churchill, Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial Double Robusto, El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme, Fuente Opus X 20th Anniversary Power of the Dream, La Flor Dominicana Salamon Unico, AVO Heritage Short Robusto, Regius Robusto. The Glenrothes executive Roy Evans was called to the stage to announce the winner, Davidoff Late Hour Churchill and Randolph Churchill accepted the award in behalf of Davidoff.

The next award was the Boisdale Cigar Producer of the year, with Davidoff, Joya de Nicaragua, Habanos, La Flor Dominicana, Plasencia, and Regius as nominees. Mitchell Orchant from C.Gars Ltd invited Scott Vines from Tor Imports and Ricardo Coriani, Deputy Head of Mission for the Nicaraguan Embassy on stage to collect the award for Joya de Nicaragua.

Award number six of the evening was The Boisdale Cigar Life Time Achievement Award 2018. Previously this award was given to Baroness Trumpington in 2014, Burt Reynolds in 2015, Andrew Neil in 2016, and Edward Sahakian in 2017. The last winner was on stage to announce the latest addition to the short list of Life Time Achievement Award winners, actor Jeremy Irons.

The seventh and final award of the night is the Vina Carmen Cigar Smoker of the Year 2018. Previously won by Simon Le Bon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jonathon Ross, Kelsey Grammer, and Tamer Hassan. This year’s nominees were actor Stephen Evans, boxer Lennox Lewis, actor Jeremy Piven, actor Chris Noth, and actor Mickey Rourke. Jorrit Gerritsma from Vina Carmen and Michael Silver announced the Chris Noth and presented him with a Davidoff humidor filled with cigars, provided by C.Gars Ltd.
