Brazil gets the second exclusivo
Brazil gets the second exclusivo. For the second time since the inception of the regional edition project by Habanos in 2005, Brazilian tobacconists have a Brazilian exclusive on the shelves. Earlier this week the Brazilian distributor Emporium Cigars started supplying Brazilian tobacconists with the boxes. Emporium Cigars is the official Habanos distributor to Brazil.
Habanos and Emporium Cigars went for 60.000 cigars of the El Rey del Mundo marca. The cigar is an Edmundo, which means it’s 5⅜x52 in size. They come in boxes of 10, which equals 6000 boxes, all with an individual number. The name of the cigar is El Rey del Mundo Serie B No.2 Brasil.
“Since the El Rey del Mundo has just arrived at the Brazilian market we chose the appeal of the Regional Edition Series to generate more interest and make the brand more popular among the consumers. That’s why we have selected the factory vitola Edmundo since the Montecristo Edmundo is already very popular here” says Fernando Teixeira, CEO of Emporium Cigars.
Release through small events
The launch of this new release is going to be made in a series of events organized by main cigar shops throughout the country. According to Ana Cristina Barros, Operation Director of Emporium Cigars, the option for smaller events was made because of the restrictions that are still in force in the country due to the COVID-19. Brazil is hit hard with the virus and the vaccination rate is only about a third of the population. Close to 600.000 Brazilians passed away of the virus.
