CAO Completes FASA Trilogy with Smooth, Shade-Grown Sombra
General Cigar Co. is rounding out the popular CAO FASA trilogy with the release of CAO FASA Sombra, a new cigar draped in an Ecuador-grown Connecticut-seed wrapper. Shipping to retailers from 7 April 2025, this latest offering completes a line designed to provide a cigar for every part of the day.
A Shaded Elegance in the FASA Lineup
Sombra, the Spanish word for “shade,” nods to the Ecuadorian region’s naturally cloudy climate, which provides a form of indirect sunlight ideal for cultivating pristine wrapper leaf. This method contrasts with other countries where farmers use tapado – cheesecloth tents that manually shade crops.
The CAO FASA Sombra features:
• Wrapper: Ecuador Connecticut-seed
• Binder: Cameroon
• Filler: Nicaragua and Dominican Republic
Handcrafted at General Cigar Dominicana in the Dominican Republic, this cigar delivers a smooth, nuanced flavour profile, completing a journey that began with FASA Sol (sun-grown and bold) and FASA Noche (maduro and rich).
Sizes and Pricing
CAO FASA Sombra is available in two vitolas:
• Toro (6 x 50) – MSRP: $6.99
• Gigante (6 x 60) – MSRP: $7.99
Both come packaged in 24-count boxes, offering excellent value for a refined, premium experience.
“FASA Sombra was created to bring the FASA lineup full circle,” says Cory Beardsley, CAO brand manager. “With Sol, we delivered a bold sun-grown expression. With Noche, a rich maduro profile. And now with Sombra, we’ve crafted a refined, shade-grown smoke that’s smooth yet layered. The FASA trilogy now offers the ideal smoking experience; morning, noon or night.”
A Trilogy with All-Day Appeal
With Sombra completing the trio, CAO FASA now offers a comprehensive smoking journey tailored to different times of day:
• Sol: Bright, bold and perfect for midday
• Noche: Dark, rich, and ideal for evening
• Sombra: Light, smooth, and suited to mornings or mellow moments
The launch of FASA Sombra solidifies CAO’s commitment to variety and quality, giving cigar enthusiasts a well-rounded trilogy that can accompany them from sunrise to sunset.
