CAO releasing a New Special Cigar

CAO releasing a new special cigar. It’s the CAO Arcana, and just as with the CAO Amazon Basin series, it consists of some tobacco with unusual fermentation. General Cigars, the parent of CAO, says this cigar is a tribute to old-world tobacco processing methods.

Andullo

Some of the filler receives fermentation in palm leaves. The tobacco is rolled in long cylinders. These receive the palm leave wrapping. Then they are hung like a sausage. After two years, the tobacco is now a dense log of tobacco. The flavor is very concentrated. This type of fermentation is what locals call Andullo. VegaFina is using the same ancient technique for its Vegafina Fortaleza 2 Andullo cigar.

The name of the 6⅛x50 Toro is mortal coil. The coil part of the name refers to the coils in which the tobaccos are fermenting. The filler of the cigars is Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Dominican. The Dominican Piloto Cubano is the tobacco that received the Andullo treatment. The binder is Connecticut Shade and the wrapper is Connecticut Broadleaf.

“With the Arcana series, as we did with Amazon Basin and its Bragança leaf, we are once again shining a light on original tobacco fermentation methods to bring excitement to the fans of CAO,” says Rick Rodriguez, who serves as both blender and ambassador for the brand.

No international release date for now

The cigars are coming from the STG Esteli factory in Nicaragua. There are 5000 boxes of 20 cigars available. For now, only in the United States. Sources within Scandinavian Tobacco Group told us that the cigar is on a shortlist of releases for Europe, but that there is no guarantee that the cigars will reach European markets. And if they do, there is yet no way of telling to which European markets and when. We will keep our European readers updated as soon as more news is available.
