Casa Cuevas latest releases revealed

May 10, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Casa Cuevas latest releases reveiled. The Dominican cigar company will release two new regular production lines. And a limited edition referring to the recent burglary. That burglary was the reason for the New Zealand distributor Canteros to distribute Casa Cuevas.

The burglars broke into the warehouse using sledgehammers. And walked away with 25.000 cigars, including a planned limited edition. That’s why the new limited edition is named La Mandarria. That’s the Spanish translation of sledgehammer. La Mandarria comes in one size, 6×52 parejo. It’s made with Colombian, Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. The binder comes from Nicaragua. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Habano. The cigars have a shaggy foot and a pigtail.

Cuevas Reserva

The other new addition to the portfolio is a reintroduced Cuevas Reserva. That brand was introduced almost two decades ago. Right before the company to only make private labels. But in 2016, Casa Cuevas decided to produce their own cigar lines again. And now they bring back the Cuevas Reserva brand.

In a press release said Luis Cuevas Jr., president of Casa Cuevas, stated “The Cuevas Reserve for my father was supposed to be the Cuevas signature brand back well over a decade ago. As with all things in life, plans always change. I am proud to have worked closely with my father and my son Alec Cuevas. He is now part of the family business recreating this blend. I am ecstatic that this brand has come full circle, as we can now present it as a family project to the consumer.”

The Cuevas Reserva will be available in a natural version with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. The binder is Habano. The filler comes from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. There is also a Maduro version. The fillers are from the Dominican and Nicaragua. The binder comes from the Dominican Republic. The wrapper is Mexican San Andres.

We reached out to Grant ‘the cigar merchant’ Ovenden, the New Zealand distributor. He confirmed that he put in an order. So these new Casa Cuevas cigars will be available internationally soon.
