Cigar Social opened in Perth. Cigar Social is a private member, business only club. And it’s a unique location in a country with extremely strict anti-tobacco laws. Australia was the first to introduce plain packaging. And the tobacco taxes are extremely high as well.

Cigar Social

Nick Russell is the founder of Cigar Social. In an email to us, he explained that he has always been passionate about cigars. According to Nick, nothing is more enjoyable than a cigar with good friends, with perhaps a nice drink. And he reached the stage in his life where he has the opportunity to do just so. That was his inspiration to open Cigar Social.

As mentioned, Australia has strict smoking laws. And Perth is one of the strictest cities in the country. Cigar Social did everything to ensure he complies with all legislation. And yet, still building something quite special. Nick Russel wrote ‘Our primary purpose is to have that third place, after home and work, where someone can relax with friends for an hour or so with a fine cigar and perhaps a nice drink.’ Cigar Social is located at 1300 Hay Street, West Perth.

The club

The club can comfortably seat 60 people, but there is room for 40 more in a bar style. To enter, you have to be a member. But if you’re not from Perth and just traveling, don’t worry. Cigar Social offers day memberships for interstate or international guest.



Nick hand selected thirty different cigars for the club humidor. Half of which are Cuban cigars, the other ten are new world cigars. He made a selection of his favorites and hopes his guests will share his taste. But the selection is not set in stone. From time to time, new cigars will be introduced.

The opening hours are 11 am till 8 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the club opens at 11 am and closes at midnight. Sunday the doors open at 11 am and close at 5 pm.
