Cuban Trinidad Robusto Extra Returns with Luxurious New Look

The much-anticipated Trinidad Robusto Extra has finally landed in the UK, marking its full return with bold new packaging and premium pricing.

A Celebrated Return to Regular Production

It’s official—the Trinidad Robusto Extra is once again available in regular production. After being teased at the Habanos Festival more than a year ago, the cigar is now shipping in the United Kingdom. Collectors and aficionados alike will recognise the Robusto Extra’s dimensions—6 1/8 inches by 50 ring gauge. First released in 2004 and discontinued in 2012, it briefly reappeared in 2021 as a travel retail exclusive.

Now, it’s back with style and permanence.

Revamped Presentation Reflects Premium Position

Trinidad cigars have always held a luxury reputation, trailing only behind Cohiba in Cuba’s premium cigar hierarchy. The new Robusto Extra reinforces that image. Gone is the plain varnished wooden box. In its place comes a high-gloss, decorative box with a repeated Trinidad logo. The design evokes high-end sophistication, more in line with collector items or luxury goods.

The cigars themselves feature enhanced branding. Along with the standard Trinidad band, there’s now a secondary band marking the 55th anniversary of the brand, plus a third foot band that reinforces its limited prestige.

Pricing Reflects Premium Status

With the relaunch comes a steep price. In the UK, a single Robusto Extra costs £66.10 (around $88.70), while a 12-count box is priced at £758.80 (approximately $1,018). For comparison, the same cigar sold for just £24.60 in 2010 before its discontinuation.

Prices are expected to remain consistent globally, with Habanos S.A. maintaining price parity across key international markets, including Hong Kong.

Celebrating 55 Years of Trinidad

This rerelease honours 55 years of the Trinidad brand, which began as a diplomatic cigar before becoming commercially available. The additional bands on the Robusto Extra highlight this historic moment, marking a new chapter for one of Cuba’s most distinguished names in cigars.
