Davidoff Cigars is wrapping up its acclaimed “Cigar History Re-Rolled” series with an innovative release that promises to become a milestone in the brand’s history. The series, part of Davidoff’s “The Difference” campaign, has seen the revival of three iconic cigars from the White Band Collection: Signature, Millennium, and Aniversario, all released as limited editions. The final instalment honours the Grand Cru line with a new format and unique blend, drawing inspiration from the world of wine to captivate both cigar aficionados and wine connoisseurs. This release introduces Davidoff’s first Grand Cru figurado format, showcasing expert craftsmanship and gradually revealing its fruity character, reminiscent of a fine Bordeaux.
Cigar History Re-Rolled – The White Band is The Difference
Davidoff’s “Cigar History Re-Rolled” concept is central to the “The Difference” campaign, which recently won the “Best Campaign 2023” award in the tobacco category from “DFNI – Duty Free News International” magazine. This campaign provides Davidoff’s loyal aficionados with in-depth insights into the brand’s unique cigar creation process, focusing on the revered Davidoff White Band Collection lines. It offers behind-the-scenes glimpses of Davidoff’s meticulous efforts to differentiate itself from the first seed to the final puff.
Davidoff Grand Cru Diademas Finas Limited Edition Collection
The launch of the Grand Cru Diademas Finas Limited Edition Collection reveals another fascinating aspect of Davidoff’s cigar production. Davidoff cultivates 15 terroirs in the Dominican Republic, each contributing to different sensorial experiences due to varying growing conditions.
“The inspiration for blending cigars like fine wines came to Zino Davidoff in 1946,” explains Edward Simon, CMO at Oettinger Davidoff. “Our new Grand Cru Diademas Finas, featuring wine cask aged filler tobacco, embodies this idea by mirroring the main aromas of a well-aged red wine.”
Taste Experience
The exceptional journey begins with pronounced citrus notes. As the filler tobaccos take centre stage, flavours evolve toward pepper and roasted nuts, with creamy notes adding remarkable balance. In the second third, the wine cask aged Dominican San Vicente seco becomes prominent, bringing aromas of dark cherries, complemented by oak wood and earth. The grand finale of the Diademas Finas features pronounced notes of walnut and increased intensity, with additional flavours of fresh spice and vanilla completing a truly Grand Cru experience.
