Davidoff Set to Release $750 Oro Blanco Special Reserve 111 Years Cigar

October 18, 2024 Inspector X 3 min read

Davidoff is making waves once again with the launch of its new Oro Blanco Special Reserve 111 Years, priced at a staggering $750 (£680 UK) per cigar. Set to be released on Monday, this limited-edition cigar follows in the footsteps of the original Davidoff Oro Blanco from 2014, which was priced at $500 at the time, making this new release a 50% price increase. The release was initially scheduled for today, but complications caused by Hurricane Milton have pushed the launch to next week.

The Oro Blanco Special Reserve 111 Years is the latest addition to Davidoff’s prestigious Oro Blanco line, which made headlines in 2014 as one of the most expensive cigars on the market. The original Oro Blanco was celebrated for its vintage blend, with all the tobacco hailing from an exceptional 2002 harvest. This new version, however, raises the bar even higher with tobaccos that have aged even longer, contributing to its extraordinary price tag.

Handcrafted in the Dominican Republic at the renowned Cigars Davidoff factory, this new release maintains the same dimensions as the original—a 6 x 54 Toro—but the blend has been enhanced. The tobaccos in the Special Reserve 111 Years have a combined age of 111 years, which gives the cigar its name. According to Davidoff, the filler is made up of three leaves aged 17 years and two leaves aged 18 years, while the wrapper is four years old. The oldest tobacco is the binder, which has been aged for a remarkable 20 years. This intricate blend, Davidoff says, is a true testament to their dedication to the art of cigar-making.

Edward Simon, Chief Marketing Officer of Oettinger Davidoff, commented on the meticulous process behind this release: “The binder and each filler are at least 17 years old, including one that we have never used in a Davidoff cigar before, grown in an area we no longer cultivate. It’s rolled only by our master rollers with over 20 years of experience, and only released when our master blenders determine it is ready.”

The filler tobaccos are sourced from five distinct regions in the Dominican Republic: Navarrete, Yamasá, Piloto, Mao, and Bonao. Notably, Bonao is an area that Davidoff no longer cultivates, adding a rare element to this cigar’s blend.

The Oro Blanco Special Reserve 111 Years will be available either individually in elegant wooden coffins or in 10-count wooden boxes. Both packaging options feature refined cedar inlays that resemble the veins and structure of a tobacco leaf, adding to the overall luxury of the presentation.

For those seeking the ultimate cigar experience, the Davidoff Oro Blanco Special Reserve 111 Years is an indulgence not to be missed, offering a rare opportunity to enjoy tobaccos with unmatched ageing and craftsmanship.
