Davidoff to Close Brookfield Place NYC and Houston Stores This September

Davidoff of Geneva will shutter its flagship Brookfield Place location in Manhattan this September, alongside its River Oaks store in Houston, marking a significant shift in the brand’s U.S. retail presence.

Davidoff Streamlines U.S. Retail: NYC’s Brookfield Place and Houston Stores to Close

In a significant update for premium cigar aficionados, Davidoff of Geneva has announced the upcoming closure of two of its luxury retail locations in the United States: the Brookfield Place store in downtown Manhattan and the River Oaks store in Houston. Both locations will cease operations this September, following nearly a decade of serving as flagship boutiques for the brand.

Opened in 2016, the Brookfield Place store quickly became Davidoff’s signature New York City outlet, nestled among luxury brands like Ferragamo and Louis Vuitton. It will join the Houston location—also opened in 2016—in closing its doors as Davidoff chooses not to renew the leases on either space.

Both our River Oaks and Brookfield Place stores have been treasured locations for our valued clients,” said Lana Fraser, Head of Marketing and Retail at Davidoff of Geneva USA. “While the decision to close these two stores was difficult, we remain committed to our presence in New York City, particularly our 6th Avenue location and the soon-to-reopen Madison Avenue store.”

The closures reduce Davidoff’s company-owned U.S. stores from four to two. The remaining locations will be the 6th Avenue store near Central Park and the Madison Avenue store, which is currently undergoing renovations and is set to reopen later this summer. The Brooklyn Davidoff, operated under licence by Matador Cigars, remains unaffected.

This marks another step in Davidoff’s broader restructuring of its retail footprint. Over the past five years, the brand has gradually scaled back its direct U.S. operations. Flagship locations in Atlanta and Tampa have already been closed or rebranded, signalling a shift in strategy toward digital retail and selective partnerships.

Despite the U.S. contraction, Davidoff continues to expand internationally. Most recently, the company opened its first official store in Sydney, Australia, located in the elegant Strand Arcade near Pitt Street Mall. The new location, operated by the former owners of Sydney Cigar House, offers an expansive selection of Davidoff cigars, as well as Cuban and New World varieties, along with high-end accessories.

While the U.S. sees a refined focus, Davidoff’s global network of over 60 flagship stores ensures the brand’s premium cigar experience remains widely accessible. For U.S. clients affected by the closures, Davidoff encourages shopping online at DavidoffGeneva.com, or visiting its remaining New York locations.
