Diplomaticos Cancilleres Debuts in Bulgaria Without Its Expected Pigtail
The new Diplomaticos Cancilleres has launched in Bulgaria, but without the pigtail cap that Habanos originally announced for the cigar.
A Surprise Twist in the Latest Diplomaticos Release
The Missing Pigtail Cap
Habanos S.A. expanded the small Diplomaticos brand earlier this year. The announcement drew attention for two reasons. It marked the brand’s first new regular-production size in decades. It also introduced a pigtail cap, a feature usually seen on Cohiba Behikes and nearly all Trinidad cigars.
However, the cigars that debuted in Sofia tell a different story. The Diplomaticos Cancilleres landed without the promised pigtail. Retailers and attendees noticed traditional mounted heads instead. The change caused questions, as the earlier press materials highlighted the new feature.
Habanos later clarified the issue. The company explained that the original festival materials included an error. The mistake repeated itself in the mid-October announcements. The Cancilleres was never meant to have a pigtail. The misunderstanding came from inaccurate documentation rather than a production change.
Confirmed Specifications
The cigar now has clear and corrected measurements. Cancilleres measures 5 1/8 inches by 50 ring gauge. Early reports listed it as 5 x 52. The presentation follows classic Cuban tradition with boxes of 25. The name does not hint at the missing pigtail. Cancilleres translates to “chancellors” in Spanish.
Pricing and Market Position
A More Affordable Modern Cuban
The Diplomaticos Cancilleres enters the market at a notable price point. The box retails for 447.38 euros in Bulgaria, equal to around $520. Single cigars sell for $20.80. In the current Cuban landscape, this positions the release as a relative bargain.
Habanos has not confirmed global availability dates. Retailers worldwide expect updates soon as distribution rolls out in stages.
