Eladio Díaz 72 Anniversary North and South Edition Set for July Release
Cigar master Eladio Díaz continues his annual tradition of crafting a birthday cigar with the upcoming release of the Eladio Díaz 72 Anniversary North and South Edition. Scheduled to begin shipping in July 2025, this limited-edition cigar honours Díaz’s 72nd birthday and showcases the finest Dominican-grown tobaccos from both the northern and southern regions of the country.
The 6 1/2 x 52 toro extra is composed entirely of Dominican tobaccos, carefully selected for their richness and balance. It features a four-year-old corojo wrapper from the south, a Mexican San Andrés negro binder grown in the Dominican Republic, and a complex filler blend that includes criollo 98, HVA, corojo 99, piloto cubano, and negrito. Díaz describes the experience as a “symphony of nuances”, delivering notes of spice, cream, coffee, cacao, and almonds, with a strength level of 7/10.
“The first impression is the presence of a magnificent wrapper 100% Dominican, a wrapper of sun (Capa de Sol), which means more flavours due to the photosynthesis of the sun. The aroma is a perfume that greatly caresses the nose, with a spectacular balance of flavours.” – Eladio Díaz
Production is limited to 2,500 boxes, each containing 12 cigars. While pricing has yet to be announced, the U.S. distribution will be handled by Arango Cigar Co.
This latest edition follows previous Eladio Díaz Aniversario releases, including the 70th Aniversario (2023) and 71st Aniversario (2024). Given Díaz’s reputation for blending masterfully balanced cigars, the 72 Anniversary North and South Edition is expected to be highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs alike.
