Eladio Diaz Unveils His 70th Birthday Masterpiece: The Eladio Diaz 70 Aniversario Cigar

Eladio Diaz is a legend in the cigar industry, and for years he blended a cigar for his birthday. Each year a different size and a different blend. These were just for him to smoke and give to friends, but as with many things in the cigar industry, these kinds of smoke gain notoriety.

Last year, Diaz left Davidoff and started a small factory to create private labels. For the first time, he is releasing a cigar that is not made for one of his clients but for his own company and it’s a cigar for his 70th birthday, the Eladio Diaz 70 Aniversario.

The cigars will debut at InterTabac 2023 and these 7×52 Churchill sizes smokes won’t be offered to retailers in the United States. Diaz blended the cigars with an Ecuadorian wrapper, Mexican binder and Dominican fillers.

Seven is an important number for Diaz. When Diaz was 7, his mother brought him to a small tobacco factory. That means he’s been working in the cigar industry for 63 years, 9 times 7. On November 14, 2016 Dias suffered a stroke. 14 is 2 times 7. And that year is 7 years ago. The length of the cigar is 7 inch for that same reason, and the blend uses seven different tobaccos. There are 14 cigars in a box, again 2 times 7, with 1400 boxes made.
