Emperors Cut Cigars Pay Tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen with New Cigar Release
Emperors Cut Cigars is paying tribute to the Tuskegee airmen, a legendary group of the air force and the first black airmen in the history of the United States. The Red Tail, which refers to the red tails of their plains, comes in two blends, each offered in two sizes.
The Red Tail 332nd has a Mexican San Andres wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and filler from Colombia and Nicaragua. The Red Tail Warhawk has a Nicaraguan wrapper over an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and filler from the Dominican and Nicaragua. The cigars come in a 6½x52 Toro and a Torpedo with the same dimensions. Both lines are made at Tabacalera La Aurora.
The Warhawk is the type of airplane that the 332nd Fighter Group was flying. And the 332nd Fighter Group was the first group of black airmen deployed during World War II. The Tuskegee name comes from the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama where the brave men were trained.
“Our Partnership consists of two U.S. Airforce, and one U.S. Marine Corps Veterans,” said Greg Willis, director of product development for Emperors Cut Cigars, in a press release. “We are inspired by the bravery and heroics of the Tuskegee Airmen. Like our Jazz Series, our goal is to produce cigars we believe are expressions of the American spirit.”
