Episode 32: The Philip & Ferdy Cigar Show

April 27, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Episode 32: The Philip & Ferdy Cigar Show. With the My Father Fonseca Robusto and Mitcher’s bourbon. Almost every Cuban brand, even terrible ones like Guantanamera, have a New World counterpart. Most of these brands are in the hands of two big players. Those are General Cigars and Altadis USA. But a few of the New World versions of Cuban cigars are still in the hands of independent cigar manufacturers. One of these brands is Fonseca.

My Father Cigars

About a year ago, My Father Cigars acquired the Fonseca brand. The previous owners, Quesada Cigars, made the Fonseca brand in the Dominican Republic for years. But once the brand came into the hands of My Father Cigars things changed. My Father Cigars created a new blend, with tobacco from its own farms in Nicaragua. And the cigars are coming from the My Fathers Cigars factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. We reviewed the cigar earlier this year as well.

Our friend Joseph Chin is a big fan of My Father Cigars so we invited him to join us for this episode. In exchange he brought a great bourbon, Mitcher’s, to pair with the My Father Fonseca Robusto. A great pairing indeed.
