Espinosa Cigars Unveils Fifth Instalment of Las 6 Provincias: ZDT, a Tribute to Pinar del Rio

July 7, 2023 Inspector Y 1 min read

In 2018, Espinosa Cigars revealed a new project, paying homage to the original 6 provinces of Cuba with a new instalment every year, Las 6 Provincias. 2023 is the year of the 5th instalment paying tribute to the province best known for its tobacco: Pinar del Rio. The cigar is called the ZDT, which stands for Zona de Tabaco, a reference to the legendary tobacco farms in Pinar del Rio.

The cigar is a Nicaraguan puro with a Corojo wrapper and for the cigar Espinosa went for a 6 ½ x48 Short Churchill. The cigars aren’t produced at Espinosa’s La Zona, but at the San Lotano Factory in Ocotal, owned by A.J. Fernandez. Espinosa has several cigars made at that factory.
The packaging of the Las 6 Provincias is always colourful and uses Cuban art. For this year, the packaging isn’t a box, but a ceramic jar with art from Eden Gutierrez.

“This is really a passion project for me, my son, and the team. We have been creative with this project since the beginning,” said Erik Espinosa in a press release. “This year’s project is simply beautiful.”
