Fire destroys Alec Bradley tobacco

July 22, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Fire destroys Alec Bradley tobacco. Several curing barns and greenhouses at Finca La Musica in Jamastran have been destroyed by a fire Thursday afternoon local time. Three of the four curing barns are lost in the fire as well as multiple greenhouses and other structures where seedlings are grown before put in the fields. Since it is impossible to insure barns like this, it is a costly loss for Alec Bradley and farm owner Hugo Endemaño.

Endemaño also runs Fabrica de Tabacos Raíces Cubanas S. de R.L in Danli, Honduras. That is the factory where the majority of the Alec Bradley cigars hail from. Alec Bradley is not the owner of Finca La Musica but did finance the purchase of the land for Endemaño.

future production

The tobacco in the curing barns and greenhouses that got lost in the fire won’t affect production. According to Alan Rubin, the tobacco as for the 2025/26 production. Alec Bradley has enough tobacco to maintain production. More tobacco is being planted next season to recover. Rubin also says that the first barn will be rebuilt in three weeks.

The cause of the fire seems to be an electrical malfunction. Rubin happened to be in Honduras at the moment of the fire. He was at the factory, about an hour away from Finca La Musica. Endemaño and Rubin were able to assess the damage quickly and come up with solutions to recover from this terrible fire. There are no reports of people getting injured or worse during the blazing fire. We will update this article if more news is being released.
