Forged Cigar Company Adds El Rey del Mundo

Forged Cigar Company adds El Rey del Mundo. Last week, Scandinavian Tobacco Group started the Forged Cigar Company. A new distribution company for the United States. Forged Cigar Company took part of the portfolio of General Cigars, a subsidiary of General Cigars. But in the press release, they said that third party brands might be part of the portfolio in the future.

A little history

The El Rey del Mundo brand came to fame when it was in the hands of the Villazon family. The same family that owned the Honduran American Tobacco SA (HATSA) factory in Danli, Honduras. Then Swedish Match acquires the brand and the factory. What happens then is a bit of a mystery to us and we can’t find any information. Swedish Match merges with Scandinavian Tobacco Group, the parent of General Cigars. But somehow the El Rey del Mundo brand ends up with Santa Clara cigars. And it became an exclusive cigar for JR Cigars. JR Cigars is part of the Altadis portfolio, which is the main competitor of General Cigars. What is known is that the cigars are still made in the HATSA factory. And that factory is part of the Scandinavian Tobacco Group.

The cigars are now available to all retailers, and thus no longer a JR Cigars Exclusive. There are six sizes and two blends available. The 4½x36 El Rey del Mundo Cafe au Lait has an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. The other five vitolas come with a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper.
