Foundation Adds Wise Man Lancero to Its Line
Foundation Cigar Co. has introduced a Lancero size to its Wise Man brand. The cigars, available in both Corojo and Maduro wrappers, are shipping to select retailers now, with a wider release expected in autumn 2025.
A Classic Lancero Format
The new Wise Man Lancero measures 7 x 40 and comes with a pigtail cap. The size pays tribute to the classic Cuban Lancero format, traditionally 7 ½ x 38, first crafted in Havana during the 1960s.
Lanceros are slim, elegant smokes, named after the Spanish word for “lance.” Their slender profile offers a concentrated expression of flavour and wrapper characteristics, making them a favourite among seasoned aficionados.
Made at My Father Cigars
The Wise Man line is produced in Nicaragua at My Father Cigars, run by the Garcia family. Foundation Cigar Co., led by Nicholas Melillo, moved the line’s production to this factory in 2024, giving the brand a refreshed presentation and packaging.
Previously, The Wise Man had been manufactured by Aganorsa Leaf. The transition to My Father Cigars has ensured access to premium Nicaraguan tobaccos grown by the Garcia family.
Corojo and Maduro Options
The Wise Man Corojo is a puro, featuring only Nicaraguan tobaccos, with a Corojo ’99 wrapper. In contrast, the Wise Man Maduro pairs a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper with a Mexican San Andrés binder and Nicaraguan fillers.
Both versions carry a suggested retail price of $14.50 per cigar and are offered in boxes of 20.
Expanding the Wise Man Range
With the Lancero, the Wise Man line now spans five vitolas: Double Corona, Toro, Robusto, Corona, and Lancero. The addition provides fans with a new format that highlights the balance and complexity of Melillo’s blends.
