Fratello Cigars announces Arlequin Gordo

July 19, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Fratello Cigars announces Arlequin Gordo. Omar de Frias is releasing a third vitola in the Arlequin line to jour the 5½x52 Robusto and the 6½x54 Toro. The new size is a 6×58 Toro.

Arlequin history

In 2019, Fratello Cigars came out with a fresh pack under the name Space Pack. The name fits in with many of the cigars from Fratello, as the brand draws inspiration from space. De Frias left his job at Nasa for his dream of having a cigar brand. That Space Pack had two 6×50 Toro cigars from already existing Fratello blends, and two new blends including the Arlequin. See our review on the toro here.

The best feedback was on the Arlequin, so a year later, Fratello released the Fratello Arlequin in two sizes. A 5½x52 Robusto and a 6½x54 Toro, the 6×50 Toro remains a Space Pack exclusive. And in September we can expect the 6×58 Fratello Arlequin Toro.

The cigars are made at Fabrica de Tabacos Joya de Nicaragua in Esteli. The wrapper is Mexican San Andres. The binder is Ecuadorian Habano around filler from Peru and Nicaragua. A box of Fratello Arlequin Gordo will contain twenty cigars. The MSRP before tax in the United States will be 11 dollars per cigar.

The name Arlequin comes from Commedia Dell’arte, an old form of Italian comedy theatre. The jester always goes by the name Arlequin. The character was introduced in the late 16th century and remains a stock character until today. Harley Quinn, the DC Comics character gets her name from Harlequin or Arlequin.
