Freud Cigar Company is Releasing its Maiden Cigar

And it is called Superego. The cigars are rolled at Tabacalera William Ventura in the Dominican Republic. Freud Cigar Company is a subsidiary of a start-up called Agape Lifestyle Inc. Agape Lifestyle is a collaboration between venture capitalist David Stadnyk and former head of Casa de Montecristo and national retail director for Davidoff, Luis Torres.

“With the exception of Winston Churchill, Dr. Sigmund Freud is the most prominent cigar smoker in world history,” Torres says in a press release. “The term ‘Freudian slip’ is part of the lexicon in daily language.”

Torres says that SuperEgo is inspired by “one of three agents in Freud’s model for psychoanalytic theory, namely the moral standards by which the ego operates.”

The cigar is medium-bodied with an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper over a Sumatra binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. There are four sizes, a 6×52 Toro, 5×54 Robusto Extra, 6½x42 Lonsdale and a 6×60 Magnum. Illusione Cigars will handle distribution for the Superego and future releases from Freud Cigar Company.

Parent company Agape Lifestyle Inc is planning to release high-end mezcal and other lifestyle products, as well as more cigars under the Freud Cigar Company.
